Multiple wins at ROK Festival!
Pro Karting hit the karting track once again over the weekend taking a team of 8 drivers across 6 classes to the 1st running of the ROK Festival in Australia at the Oakleigh Go Kart Club. The Pro Karting team has had another strong season of racing including wins at the City of Melbourne Titles, Junior Sprint Classic and many other meetings. The team were once again looking to come home with victories across the weekend.
Jorden Lindstrom took to the starter for the Pro Karting team in debut of the Gearbox Masters class. Lindstrom started Saturday in fine fashion putting himself on the front row and grabbing a 1st and 2nd in race 1 and 2. Jorden then put in an awesome drive to take the Saturday feature race having him in good spirits going into Sunday. Lindstrom was once again able to qualify on the front row and take 2nd place in race 4 and 5. Jorden was able to go one better in the Sunday feature and grab another victory which gave him the overall ROK Festival victory!
Jace Lindstrom made his return to karting over the weekend alongside regular Pro Karting pilot Mark Seddon taking on the ROK GP Masters class. Lindstrom had a perfect run on Saturday taking pole position and grabbing victory in race 1, race 2 and the Saturday feature! Seddon had a tough day on Saturday with 2 DNF results but a 4th place in race 2 showed his true pace. Lindstrom looked set to take out the ROK Festival win in the class but a heart-breaking mechanical failure while leading the Sunday feature resulted in him pulling off the circuit and 4th in the standings. Seddon had 2 top 4 finishes in race 4 and 5 but a DNF in the Sunday feature had him in 5th place overall to end the weekend.
Jett Buckley took on the KA3 Senior Light class for Pro Karting and was looking to continue the teams progress. Buckley qualified in position 4 and had a consistent day of racing with 3rd in race 1 and 4th in race 2 and the Saturday feature. Buckley put in a stellar performance in qualifying in conditions on Sunday to put himself on the front row! Jett had 3 more top 5 finishes with 4th in race 4 and 5th in race 5 and the Sunday feature. Buckley just missed the ROK Festival podium in 4th being equal on points with 3rd position.
KA3 Junior had regular Pro Karting pilot Pip Casabene taking the start in a tough field of drivers. Casabene put himself on the 3rd row of the grid in qualifying and was pushing the top 5 all Saturday with a 7th in race 1, 6th in race 2 and 9th in the Saturday feature. Pip qualified in an improved effort of 3rd on Sunday! The rest of the day didn’t go Casabene’s way, with a DNF in race 5 and a DNS in the Sunday feature dropping him to 9th in the ROK Festival standings.
Kristian Janev and Declan Somers both looked to make their mark on the new ROK GP Light class for Pro Karting. Both Somers and Janev qualified in the top 5 on Saturday in 3rd and 4th respectively. Both drivers never left the top 4 on Saturday with a 2nd in race 1 for Somers and the feature win for Janev having both drivers right in the mix. Somers never left the top 3 on Sunday and had a brilliant 2nd place across the day, while Janev battled for 3rd in race 5 and the Sunday feature. Janev had done enough to secure 3rd in the ROK Festival championship with Somers right behind him in 4th position overall!
Sebastian Perrone took on the support TAG 125 Restricted Light class and was chasing another victory for Pro Karting. Perrone had a super day on Saturday qualifying on pole position, grabbing victory in race 1 and 2 before a tough 2nd place in the Saturday feature. Sebastian qualified in 3rd spot on Sunday but had a championship winning day taking victory in race 4, 2nd in race 5 and the feature win on Sunday afternoon!
Pro Karting’s Adam Lindstrom spoke post weekend on the team’s strong weekend. “We are really happy to walk away from the ROK Festival with a feature win and also a win in the support classes, our team really took it to the others on the weekend with multiple pole positions, heat wins and feature wins! We look to build on this at Morwell this weekend for the final round of the GPS”. There will be no rest for the Pro Karting team, being back at the track this weekend for the final round of the Golden Power Series at Gippsland Kart Club!
